# Access

Who can use Flovia during the alpha, how to create an account, and how you and your agent connect after you register.

## Who can use Flovia

Flovia is in alpha, and anyone can create an account. You can connect an agent once you register.

Within the free allowance, Flovia pays for your lookups. The free allowance is a 5-hour window and a weekly window, shared across all services. Adding to the purchased balance is paused for now. [Free and paid use](/usage.md) explains the free allowance and the purchased balance.

## Create your account

Anyone can create a Flovia account at [Flovia Console](https://console.flovia.dev/auth/register). No invitation or waitlist is needed.

1. Enter your email, and Flovia sends you a 6-digit code to confirm it.
2. Create a passkey, and accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy yourself when you register.
3. Connect your agent. [Sign in with OAuth](/connect/oauth.md) from Quick Install in Console, or create an API key and follow the [Quickstart](/get-started/quickstart.md).

## How your agent connects

Flovia's MCP server is `https://api.flovia.dev/mcp`. Your agent sends an OAuth access token or your Flovia API key with each request.

Without a credential, every MCP request gets HTTP 401, including initialize, tools/list and tools/call. The 401 carries a `WWW-Authenticate` header whose `resource_metadata` points to Flovia's OAuth Protected Resource Metadata (RFC 9728). That metadata names the authorization server, `https://console.flovia.dev/oauth`, where you sign in. MCP clients that support OAuth follow these steps themselves.

The body of that 401 explains how to get in: sign in with OAuth or send a Flovia API key. The body also says you can create an account at /auth/register and links the registration page and these docs.

To see Flovia's tools before you sign in, read the public [server card](https://api.flovia.dev/.well-known/mcp/server-card.json). It lists each tool with its description, its annotations and its input schema.

## What your agent can and cannot do

Your agent can help you join: it can open the registration page, explain each step, and set up the connection once you have a key or have signed in.

Some steps are yours alone:

- You accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy yourself when you register. Your agent cannot accept the Terms of Service or the Privacy Policy for you.
- Never paste your API key into the chat. Save it in your shell profile as `FLOVIA_KEY` and point your client at it, as [Connect](/connect.md) shows.
